THIRD THURSDAY THEATER

The Rehoboth Beach Film Society and the Rehoboth Beach Public Library are co-sponsoring a children’s film series titled Third Thursday Theater for children grades K - 5. The monthly series features a screening of an age appropriate film for the purpose of exposing youth to cinematic arts as a means of entertaining, educating, and/or raising awareness of numerous social issues. All films will be screened on the 3rd Thursday each month in the upstairs community room at the Rehoboth Beach Public Library (226 Rehoboth Avenue). At each session, a book corresponding to the film’s theme will be awarded as a door prize. Donations of $1.00 per person will be gratefully accepted to help defray program costs. For more information, contact the Rehoboth Beach Film Society office at 302-645-9095, or the Rehoboth Beach Public Library at 302-227-8044.

This animated feature is about an old widow who is in danger of foreclosure on her farm unless she can come up with $750 for the mortgage. The farm animals overhear this and, knowing she will not be able to come up with the money, hatch their own plan. The dairy cows consult the local sheriff’s horse, a former bounty hunter, who just so happens to know about a bandit on the loose in a nearby town. Luckily for the farm animals, the reward for capturing this crook happens to be exactly $750. [2004, Runtime: 76 min., Rated: PG]

A Bug's Life
6:00 PM, Thursday, June 19, 2008

Flik, a misfit, inventor ant is tired of the gang of freeloading grasshoppers who steal food and provisions from every bug colony in the land, rather than working to harvest their own food like all the other bugs. On behalf of oppressed bugs everywhere, resourceful Flik hires warrior bugs to defend his colony. Unfortunately, Flik's cavalry turns out to be a ragtag group of flea circus performers. Through teamwork, determination, and a little bit of comic confusion, the tiny army perseveres, and unlikely heroes are born! [1998, Runtime: 96 min., Rated: G, animated]
