Film Society to Work with Local Artists
The Rehoboth Beach Film Society is seeking original art submissions for the Rehoboth Beach Independent Film Festival’s 2008 poster and program. Cindy Hall, Marketing Committee Chair, said “In previous years, the Film Society regularly heard terrific feedback from members and the public about the unique design of Festival posters. This year we decided to include the talents of the art community in creating a Festival poster that has even more meaning to Festival film buffs and local residents.” Hall explained that the artwork selected will be auctioned at the Festival in November 2008 with proceeds to benefit the Rehoboth Beach Film Society. Hall further commented “This is not only a great opportunity for the Festival to benefit from local talents, it also provides unbeatable exposure for the chosen artist.” Ten-thousand Festival programs and two-thousand posters will be printed using the original artwork. A picture of the artist and a biography will appear in the Festival program. Hall said, “The chosen artwork may also be used in the design of a festival t-shirt or other memorabilia, as well as in Festival and/or Film Society publicity.”
Following are the submission criteria and other details:
- Art work must be two dimensional and can be a drawing, painting, ink, glass, collage, photography, etc.
- Art work may be representational, abstract or non-objective.
- Art work must be created in a vertical format.
- Required unframed dimensions: minimum size 8”X10", maximum size 24”X36".
- Art work must be framed if not a wrapped edge.
- Art work must be finished with hanging wire attached.
- The Rehoboth Beach Film Society will retain all rights to the selected art work.
- Art work may be cropped or adjusted in the design of the program, poster, merchandise, or publicity materials with possible overlapping of text, logo, sponsors, etc.
- The Rehoboth Beach Film Society will determine final approval for all uses of the selected artwork.
- The Rehoboth Beach Film Society retains the right to conduct the auction of the selected artwork as it deems appropriate for the Festival
- Posters from previous years may be viewed at the Rehoboth Beach Film Society office
If you would like to make a submission, please deliver completed artwork to the Rehoboth Beach Film Society office at 107 Truitt Avenue, Rehoboth Beach, DE 19971 by close-of-business on March 15, 2008. If submitting a picture via email or a slide, etc. for consideration, the selection committee reserves the right to request delivery of the original artwork prior to making a final decision.
