Volunteers in the Spotlight:
Reel People

September's Reel Person

Pat Lewis

Pat Lewis likes to keep busy. “You meet so many nice people that way”, she says. Pat retired from DuPont after 33 years, then retired from Westvaco after 10 years, then moved to Sussex and became “Lewis from Lewes”, working at St Edmunds and at Dewey Beach Town Hall. She now works part-time at the Wooden Indian. And, of course, still finds time to volunteer with the Rehoboth Beach Film Society.

Pat began volunteering with the Film Society in 2000; working during the Festival at the Membership and Information booths and in Theater Management. She says she particularly enjoys greeting film-goers at the Festival and listening to everyone’s comments about the films. She has also provided much welcomed assistance at the Film Society office.

“Pat Lewis has come to the rescue so often when the staff gets overloaded with various tasks”, says Wendi Dennis, Film Society Outreach and Volunteer Coordinator. “No job is too small or too large for her! She is always ready to pitch in and help staff at any of the year-round events.”
Shameless plug coming… Pat says Film Society people are “delightful”. “The people draw you in; you get more than you give,” when volunteering, she says.

Sue Early, Film Society Executive Director says, “Pat brings a willingness to do whatever is needed, a commitment to being thorough in her work, and maybe most important, a fun spirit. Interacting with Pat always includes some good humor.”

Pat goes to Film Society screenings throughout the year. She does not have a DVD player; she likes to sit in a cinema seat and watch a film on the big screen. She says “I think people are really missing out if they don’t take advantage of the Film Society. (When) …the newsletter (with all upcoming events listed, arrives)….it is the first thing I open.”

We at the Film Society feel privileged to know Pat Lewis and thank her on behalf of staff, volunteers and members, for her time and the joy she brings to the Rehoboth Beach Film Society.
