Rehoboth Beach Independent Film Festival • November 1–11, 2018 With sincerest appreciation I welcome you to the 21st anniversary of the Rehoboth Beach Independent Film Festival! On behalf of the Rehoboth Beach Film Society’s Board of Directors, we are excited you’ve chosen to join us and we look forward to sharing an enjoyable and memorable event with you. This time of year is always very exciting for us. Exciting for the chance to see so many familiar faces, as well as meeting many new, but also for the privilege to share with you the wonderful organizational highlights of which we’re so proud. Our crown jewel, the Cinema Art Theater (CAT), has served as a tremendous vehicle for helping to fulfill the organization’s mission. Since CAT’s opening in 2016, we have filled over 54,000 seats for 1,515 events. This remarkable attendance, combined with the success of our year-round mini-festivals, has helped the Film Society’s membership increase over 92% as of August when I’m writing this letter. This growth has surpassed all expectation and demonstrates the need for additional programming. To meet this increased demand, we embarked on a fundraising mission to open a second, smaller theater. You responded and I’m proud to report we have surpassed the fundraising goal needed to make this new venue a reality! While we have many things to be grateful for, truly our greatest asset is the Film Society’s management, staff and volunteers. Sue and her collective team share a commitment and passion vital to the organization’s success and they rise to the challenge time and time again. Their months of hard work and dedication have produced another year’s worth of amazing programs for so many to enjoy. I hope you’ll join in applauding their extraordinary efforts. Whether you’re here for just a cameo, or binging over the 11-day festival, we are thankful for your presence. Thank you for your support of the cinematic arts and attendance at this festival. With Appreciation, Terry Kistler, President WELCOME FROM THE BOARD PRESIDENT 10 Welcome from the Board P resident
